Nintendo announced the opening day for the new Donkey Kong Country zone at Super Nintendo World in Universal Studio Japan (USJ) in Osaka, Japan. This expansion is part of the Mario zone that has been open since 2021 and will officially open on December 11, 2024.
Shigeru Miyamoto, the Nintendo executive, took a tour of some parts of the Donkey Kong Country area, which features immersive environments from games like Donkey Kong and the Golden Temple. Inside, there are various activities such as playing the Conga Drums in rhythm with a group of three, earning points at different spots with the Power-Up Band that adds a new Donkey Kong pattern but can still use the original Power-Up Band, souvenir shop “Funky’s Fly and Buy,” a restaurant offering Donkey Kong’s favorite banana as the main dish, photo opportunities with Donkey Kong, and the Mine Cart Madness ride.
According to Nintendo’s plans, the Donkey Kong Country zone will not only open at USJ but also at Universal Epic Universe in Orlando, Florida, USA in 2025.
