Expansion of ASE’s Taiwan Chip Manufacturer with Fifth Factory in Nang, Increasing Production Capacity by 240%

Advanced Semiconductor Engineering (ASE), a major chip manufacturer from Taiwan, has opened its 5th chip packaging and testing factory in Nang, Malaysia. The production area has been expanded from 1 million square feet to 3.4 million square feet, an increase of up to 240%.

ASE primarily focuses on chip packaging business. Currently, the company is developing square substrate packaging technology, which is currently only available in their testing facility in Taiwan. It is expected to commence customer testing next year. ASE has been operating in Malaysia since 1991. The new factory is set to hire approximately 1,500 more employees.

Chip testing and packaging is a significant business for ASE in Nang this year. Blognone had the opportunity to visit Intel’s factory two years ago.
