Lenovo has recently published the findings from their 2024 Global CIO Report, a survey conducted with 750 CIOs across 10 countries. This year’s survey focused extensively on AI-related questions.
One intriguing discovery from the survey is that AI/ML has now scored 51% in terms of cybersecurity readiness for urgent tasks. Within organizations deemed “AI-ready,” 49% of IT technical staff are fully prepared while the other half are still catching up.
An overwhelming 83% believe that AI will enhance productivity, 77% anticipate improved competitiveness, and 51% foresee cost reduction. However, 42% are skeptical about AI yielding positive ROI within 2-3 years, while 39% have already witnessed returns on their investment.
Key obstacles to implementing AI in organizations include speed (37%), security (37%), and the often-overlooked issue of bias (30%).
