Project IDX, also known as IDE, was introduced through Google’s browser in 2023 and is now available for public use in Open Beta. This platform brings Visual Studio Code to users via the browser, integrating convenient tools to pull code from GitHub and create virtual machines to run the code. Additionally, it connects with Google’s own services such as Firebase, Flutter, Google Maps API, and utilizes the Gemini model to assist in code writing and code-related queries.
Google reported that over the past period, more than 100,000 developers have tried out IDX. Those with a Google Developer Profile account are entitled to open up to 5 workspaces for free.
