Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 smartphones for the year 2024. The team at blognone got a hands-on experience with these devices last week and here’s a sneak peek before the full review.
Starting with the Z Flip 6, the external design looks similar to the Z Flip 5. However, the major changes are seen in the internal specifications and features. The inclusion of the Galaxy AI in the camera processing brings features like AI Auto Zoom, which helps in capturing users, zooming in and out automatically as users move closer or further away. This makes it easier to take selfies in various distances using the Flex Window mode. The camera comes with ProVisual AI Engine for improved 2x zoom and better low-light capture.
In addition, there’s a new feature called Portrait Studio designed for enhancing portrait photos. It uses AI Generative to create four different styles of the individual in the photo, such as various art styles or 3D animations, adding diversity to our photos.
The Flex Window display on the back has a new feature called Unique Flip Face, which acts as a dynamic background that tilts with the user’s device movement. The AI Gen Wallpaper personalizes backgrounds to users’ styles, enhancing the overall appeal. Despite the Z Flip 6 having an IP48 rating for water and dust resistance, Samsung’s team demonstrated its durability by submerging it and still being able to use the camera underwater, showcasing its robust build.
Moving on to the Z Fold 6, this device is considered the flagship of this lineup due to its revamped rectangular design, making it lighter and thinner at just 5.6mm thick and weighing 239g. It feels incredibly easy to handle and can stand vertically for added convenience. The device is loaded with Galaxy AI capabilities and a plethora of new features.
One such feature is Composer, which helps in composing various types of text through prompts, adjusting sentences to formal or conversational tones. Additionally, Chat Assist generates suitable sentences for conversations, making interactions smoother and friendlier.
Another feature tested by the team is Sketch to Image, where users can draw objects in photos, taking just 30 seconds for processing. While it has limitations such as not being able to draw on faces (as AI cannot process them), drawing on objects works seamlessly. This feature makes AI more accessible and can be utilized in the Notes app for drawings or text, providing users with creative outputs.
The team also experimented with the existing Interpreter feature, which translates real-time conversations while the Flip and Fold devices are partially folded, allowing the opposite party to read through the back display. This feature enhances usability and utility of the foldable screens.
Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 offer intriguing features that are practical and make AI technology more user-friendly, particularly in email functions and lifestyle aspects like photography.

Samsung officially introduced the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 smartphones for the year 2024.
