Microsoft has announced the discontinuation of support for Microsoft Publisher, the desktop publishing program in the Microsoft 365 suite, effective in October 2026 as part of the Office 2021 LTSC support lifecycle.
The rationale behind Microsoft’s decision is that tasks traditionally done with Publisher, such as designing printed materials, envelopes, business cards, and more, can now be accomplished using features available in Word and PowerPoint. Microsoft offers a plethora of free templates on Microsoft Create and plans to further enhance related features in Word, PowerPoint, and Designer in the future.
