In the year 2021, Microsoft outlined the path of the OneNote app on Windows, once offering two choices: preserving OneNote (Win32) while discontinuing OneNote for Windows 10 (UWP) after a 4-year run. The end is near.
Most recently, Microsoft announced the end of support for OneNote for Windows 10 (UWP) on October 14, 2025 (coinciding with the end of Windows 10 support) and advised users to transition to OneNote (Win32) sooner rather than later.
Of note, starting from June 2025, users of OneNote for Windows 10 will experience slower data syncing, with a banner notification in the app prompting the move come July 2025.
Currently, the OneNote for Windows 10 app is labeled as (Legacy) at the end of its name and can still be downloaded from the Microsoft Store via direct link only, as it is no longer searchable.

TLDR: Microsoft’s OneNote for Windows 10 support will end on October 14, 2025, urging users to transition to OneNote (Win32) before then. From June 2025, data syncing will slow down for OneNote for Windows 10 users, with a pop-up notification in July 2025 prompting the switch.
