February iPhone Deliveries Plummet by 33% in China

Information reported by Bloomberg from the numbers of China’s Information Technology and Communication Institute reveals that there were approximately 2.4 million smartphones shipped outside of China in February 2024, with the majority coming from Apple. This number represents a 33% decrease compared to February 2023.

The decrease in shipments marks the third consecutive month of decline for iPhone deliveries. In January, there were 5.5 million units delivered, a decline of 39%, and in December, a decrease of 30%.

In China, Huawei has been steadily increasing its market share, particularly with its latest Mate 60 smartphone series.

The declining iPhone sales in China have also been attributed to significant price reductions on the iPhone 15 through distributors in China and even directly on Apple’s own website, a strategy not commonly seen from the tech giant.

TLDR: Bloomberg reports a significant decrease in iPhone shipments outside of China in February 2024, primarily sourced from Apple, with a notable market share increase for Huawei in China. This decline is attributed to aggressive price promotions on the iPhone 15.
