FF7 Rebirth Director Verifies: Third Installment Will Exclude Cid and Vincent as Playable Characters – Anticipation Builds

Naoki Hamaguchi, the director of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, has confirmed to IGN that the two main characters in this installment will be Cid and Vincent, who will embark on the journey with the player’s party. However, they will not participate in combat.

In the first game, FF7 Remake, Red XIII is considered a guest character but does join in the battle scenes, even though players cannot control him during fights. The case is different in Rebirth because Cid and Vincent will not engage in combat at all; they will have specific roles within the storyline.

Therefore, the playable characters in Rebirth will consist of Cloud, Barret, Tifa, Aerith, Red XIII, Yuffie, and Cait Sith. As for playing as Cid or Vincent, players will have to wait for the third installment. Hamaguchi provides a clear reason for this decision, stating that he wants to keep these characters as a new experience for the third installment.

TLDR: According to Naoki Hamaguchi, director of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the main characters in this installment will be Cid and Vincent. They will not participate in combat, unlike Red XIII in the first game. In Rebirth, players can control Cloud, Barret, Tifa, Aerith, Red XIII, Yuffie, and Cait Sith. The roles of Cid and Vincent will be reserved for the third installment to provide a fresh experience.
