FFVII Rebirth Team Reveals: A Potential FFVI Remake May Require Twice the Duration to Craft All Parts

Naoki Hamaguchi and Yoshinori Kitase, the director and producer of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, were interviewed by Julien Chièze on YouTube. The interview, which lasted over 45 minutes, was conducted in French. At one point, they discussed the possibility of remaking Final Fantasy VI and mentioned that it could take twice as long as Final Fantasy VII Remake to achieve the same level of quality.

Yoshinori Kitase shared that during their promotional tours in different countries, they often hear fans expressing their love for Final Fantasy VI and their desire for a remake. However, Kitase mentioned that if they were to remake Final Fantasy VI, it would require double the time and resources compared to Final Fantasy VII Remake, which is already divided into three parts and has taken over 10 years to develop.

The reason behind the potential two-fold time requirement is that Final Fantasy VI has a larger cast of characters and a longer storyline compared to Final Fantasy VII. Kitase admitted that he has yet to visualize how a remake of Final Fantasy VI would turn out. While there are many team members within the company who are eager to create a Final Fantasy VI Remake, Kitase expressed his disappointment and regret that they are currently unable to fulfill that desire.

TLDR: Naoki Hamaguchi and Yoshinori Kitase, the key figures behind Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, revealed in an interview that remaking Final Fantasy VI could potentially take twice as long as the already decade-long development of Final Fantasy VII Remake. Despite the desire within the company to create a Final Fantasy VI Remake, they have not been able to envision the project fully and allocate resources accordingly. This news comes as fans express their love for Final Fantasy VI and their eagerness for a remake.
