Firefox Embraces Chrome’s New Manifest V3 Extension Model, Confirms No Abandonment of V2

While Chrome is starting to phase out extensions in Manifest V2 in favor of transitioning to Manifest V3, Firefox’s side, which announced back in 2021 that it would support Manifest V3 extensions, has developed this feature and started using it in Firefox 127. It will be available on Firefox for Android in version 128.

Firefox’s approach clearly states that it will support both V2 and V3 extensions to allow for the widest possible use of extensions (which are mostly written for Chrome).

TLDR: Firefox is now supporting Manifest V3 extensions, starting with version 127 and available on Firefox for Android in version 128, to ensure compatibility with a wide range of extensions originally developed for Chrome.
