There is no magic that a game can make a comeback after a complete failure like Concord. In the end, Sony has officially decided to close down Firewalk Studio.
The official Twitter account of Firewalk posted the final message of the studio. After being founded in 2018 and overcoming the COVID crisis, they had the opportunity to fully develop their first game in 2022 (bought by Sony in 2023). The studio achieved success in various technical aspects, such as creating an FPS game engine based on Unreal 4 that transitioned to Unreal 5, running games at 60FPS on both PC and PS5. However, the game did not meet expectations. Nonetheless, they thanked the hard-working team for their courage to take risks and try new things, and hope the team will find their own path forward.
Concord is considered one of the fastest games to shut down, officially ending on August 23, 2024, and announcing closure on September 4th.
TLDR: Firewalk Studio, after striving through challenges and technical successes, ultimately faced closure, while Concord ended abruptly in August 2024.
