Future Enhancements in iOS 18 by Apple’s Unannounced Allies

At the recent WWDC24 event, the unveiling of iOS 18 on the keynote opened up a plethora of new features such as Apple Intelligence, custom home screen icons, game mode, and added app locking layers. However, there are still many unannounced features by Apple, possibly due to minor changes.

The beta version of iOS 18 has been released to developers for testing, leading to the discovery of interesting new findings. Here are some highlights:

– Animation when pressing the side button: A small playful feature in iOS 18 where pressing the side button on the phone will display a subtle animation following the press. This feature is currently exclusive to iPhones and not visible on iPads.

– Adjustable flashlight direction: The flashlight function in phones, utilizing the rear camera flash, has been enhanced in iOS 18. In addition to adjusting brightness levels, users can now also control the direction of the flashlight beam dispersion.

– Time display even when the battery is low: In iOS 18, when the iPhone battery is running low, besides the usual red battery icon, the time will still be displayed. Additionally, the device will indicate if Find My functionality is still accessible.

– Expanded photo categories in the Photos app: In iOS 18, the Photos app has introduced new categories like Receipts, Handwriting, Illustrations, QR Codes, Recently Saved, Recently Viewed, Recently Edited, Documents, and Maps under the Utilities section.

– Battery information during Slow Charge: The Battery section in Settings now displays past battery level data, including details on slow charging periods. This update aims to provide users with a better understanding of their charging habits.

Other new additions include:

– The ability to add songs to the queue in Apple Music.
– Shortcut button to access the camera from the bottom right corner of the lock screen, which can now be customized to open other camera apps as well.
– Action Button shortcut, currently available on iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, can now be set to open the Control Center.
– Added options to set battery charging limits, with recommendations on optimal values based on usage behavior.
