TomTom, the Dutch map company widely used in various car brands, has announced a partnership with Microsoft to leverage Generative AI technology. Under this agreement, TomTom will utilize the technology from Azure OpenAI Service to develop a new and improved voice assistant, capable of better language comprehension and natural conversation with drivers. This voice assistant will be integrated into TomTom’s Digital Cockpit system.
In addition to the OpenAI Services, TomTom also identified the use of other Microsoft technologies, including Azure Kubernetes Services, Azure Cosmos DB, and Azure Cognitive Services. This collaboration deepens the existing partnership between TomTom and Microsoft, which began in 2016 when Microsoft acquired TomTom’s map data for use on Azure.
