Google has announced the discontinuation of support for two Nest products: Nest Protect, a smoke detector sold from 2013-2014 (with a second generation sold in 2015), and Nest x Yale, a smart lock made in collaboration with Yale, released in 2018.
Google explains that the carbon monoxide (CO) sensor in Nest Protect has a 10-year lifespan from the manufacturing date, indicated on a sticker on the device. With Google no longer releasing new Nest Protect models, the devices will expire on their own, meaning any purchased Nest Protect will continue to function until their designated end-of-life date.
Google has partnered with another company to release a similar product, the First Alert Smart Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarm, as a replacement option in the near future.
As for the Nest x Yale Lock, it will continue to be operational but will not have any new products released. Google has introduced a new model called Yale Smart Lock with Matter as a replacement for future purchases.

TLDR: Google is ending support for Nest Protect and Nest x Yale products but offering replacements with new models from different brands.
