Google has rolled out the Scam Detection feature which checks phone calls for potential call center scams and notifies users if suspicious conversations are detected. This system operates directly on the phone, where artificial intelligence can listen to and understand messages. For instance, if a caller claims to be a bank official and tries to trick the victim into transferring money, the AI will alert with sound and vibration along with a notification on the screen. Scam Detection is disabled by default and users need to enable it themselves. Message content will not be saved on the device or sent for further analysis elsewhere. Currently available for Pixel 6 users and above in the United States who are part of the public beta testing group. Source: Google Security Blog.
