Google has announced the addition of the Gemini service to the Google Distributed Cloud (GDC), allowing customers to run Gemini and Agentspace in their own data centers without the need to connect to the internet or send data outside the organization’s network.
This project is a collaboration between Google and NVIDIA, with customers required to use the DGX B200 or HGX B200 that can be air-gapped and not connected to the outside world, authorized for use with top-secret or highly classified data of the US government.
While Google has long offered the Gemma model for open use within organizations, many still require the Gemini model on the cloud. This new service offering provides additional options for customers.
Users can operate Gemini through Vertex AI, control usage with Apigee, and store vector data in AlloyDB just like on the cloud, and can also utilize the Agentspace service within.
There is currently no set date for the service launch, but Google advises contacting certified partners for more information.
