Google’s Remarkable Shift: Pixel 8 to Embrace Gemini Nano in Upcoming Feature Drop

Google previously revealed that the Pixel 8 would not use the AI Gemini Nano due to hardware limitations. This raised questions, as the only limitation was the 8GB RAM, which equals that of the latest Galaxy S24. However, Google has had a change of heart and the Pixel 8 will indeed use Gemini Nano, coming with the next Pixel Feature Drop expected in June. Google also mentioned hardware limitations again, stating that running the LLM model on phones with different RAM sizes will result in varying user experiences. After testing on the Pixel 8, Google decided to update it for usability.

TLDR: Google initially decided not to use the AI Gemini Nano in the Pixel 8 due to hardware limitations, but has since changed course and will include it in the upcoming Pixel Feature Drop in June.
