The government of the Netherlands has announced the addition of measures to restrict the export of machinery for semiconductor production, citing security and technology risks, as well as geopolitical concerns.
Last year, the Dutch government also implemented measures on the export of chip production machinery, focusing on EUV technology, the most advanced technology in the field.
As a result of this new directive, machinery used in chip production of nearly all types must obtain an export license from the Dutch government every time. This includes ASML, a major manufacturer of chip production machinery, which previously could export DUV technology machinery without restrictions.
The government of the Netherlands did not specify which countries are being restricted in terms of export.
