Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, disclosed in an open letter to the Committee on the Judiciary of the US House of Representatives that the Biden administration in 2021 had pressured companies to censor certain types of COVID-19 content, such as controversial content.
Mark stated that the ultimate decision to delete or not delete content lies solely with Meta, but government interference is considered inappropriate, and he regrets not disclosing this sooner.
Looking back to the COVID era, both Meta and Twitter (at that time) were under attack from both sides, whether it was about content censorship or even the dissemination of fake news about the virus and vaccines being spread on the platforms.
