Groundbreaking Proposal: Epic Games Petitions Court for Google to Grant Independence in App Distribution and Payment Methods

In December of last year, the court ruled in favor of Epic Games in their lawsuit against Google for restricting the store system on Android. The next step is for the judge to determine the penalties, as this lawsuit is not seeking damages but rather demanding Google to open up the platform for developers to distribute apps through various channels.

Epic Games stated that the court has allowed the company to submit proposals for consideration in crafting the decision. Among the various proposals, the key points include:

– Google must not display warnings or block users if they download apps from sources other than the Play Store, whether it be from other stores or websites.
– Google must allow customers and developers to freely choose payment methods without fees or limitations.
– Google cannot block or delay if Epic submits apps to the store; they must follow the same procedure as other apps.

Google’s representatives have indicated that the company is preparing a firm response after the court issues the ruling, as Epic’s intention is to leverage Google Play without paying.

The ruling is expected to come in May.
