HBO Max Prepares to Combat Preemptive Birth Control in Thailand with Password Sharing Measures

Warner Bros. Discovery management revealed in the latest shareholder meeting that the company will begin implementing password sharing measures for Max in the coming months. This will start with subtle messaging before introducing additional measures in 2025 and 2026, such as implementing various service fees (think Netflix’s scenario of separate account pricing with an additional 99 baht per month).

In the last quarter, Max gained 7.2 million new members, totaling 110.5 million members currently. While other streaming services, aside from Netflix with its clear global measures, like Disney+, are also taking steps in this direction.
