IDC Market Research Company has released a report on the smartphone market in China for the first quarter of 2025, delivering a total of 71.6 million units, an increase of 3.3% compared to the first quarter of 2024. This growth outpaces the overall market growth worldwide, with a key factor being the government subsidies provided in January, covering smartphone purchases.
Xiaomi has once again risen to the top spot as the best-selling smartphone in China, with a market share of 18.6%, a 39.9% increase. Will Wong, IDC’s research manager, stated that the government subsidies have led people to seek high-quality and cost-effective smartphone options, making Xiaomi the top choice with a leading market share.
Following Xiaomi, Huawei, OPPO, and vivo hold the ranks of 2nd to 4th place with market shares of 18.0%, 15.7%, and 14.4% respectively. Apple is in 5th place with a market share of 13.7%.
