Gartner, a market research company, has reported that in the first quarter of 2025, a total of 59 million PCs were delivered, showing a 4.8% increase from the first quarter of 2024.
According to Gartner researcher Rishi Padhi, the two main markets driving high PC growth in the past quarter were the United States and Japan. The US saw a growth of 12.6% due to vendors stocking up on products ahead of import tax increases. In Japan, growth was driven by the need to upgrade devices to support Windows 11 and a rise in demand for Chromebooks in the education sector, leading to an overall market growth of 15.6%.
In terms of market share by brand, the rankings remain unchanged with Lenovo leading at 25.9%, HP at 21.6%, Dell at 16.3%, Apple at 10.1%, Acer at 6.5%, and ASUS at 6.3%.
