Astrova, a subsidiary of Panasonic Avionics, has unveiled a new generation of in-flight entertainment systems featuring OLED 4K screens with HDR+ support. These cutting-edge displays address the shortcomings of older screens, such as lack of sharpness, low contrast ratios, and limited viewing angles.
The OLED screens offered by Astrova come in sizes ranging from 13 to 42 inches, catering to a wide range of aircraft configurations, from economy to premium seating with private suites. In addition to improved picture quality, the new entertainment systems also support Bluetooth for passengers with their own headphones and feature dual USB-C ports for charging various devices.
Airlines adopting the new display technology include Icelandair and Qantas. Icelandair has opted for 13-inch screens in economy and 16-inch screens in business class, starting with the Airbus A321neo LR aircraft in late 2024.
