Amazon has revealed statistics showing that after introducing Passkey for login a year ago, there are now 175 million users utilizing it. Passkey supports login on the website and Amazon Shopping app on iOS/Android.
Over the past year, Amazon has also implemented Passkey for various services within its ecosystem, such as Audible, to facilitate quicker logins for users.
Passkey operates by storing identity verification keys between our devices and the destination server, offering a more secure option than passwords due to longer and unique keys. This resolves the issue of password reuse. Users also need to confirm their identity on their devices using methods like facial recognition, fingerprints, or device PIN to validate ownership of the keys.
