Nintendo unveils the official opening of the Nintendo Museum through a Direct press conference, set to welcome visitors starting from October 2, 2024. Situated in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan, near the Ogura train station, the museum occupies the former Hanafuda playing card and toy factory of Nintendo from before they ventured into video game business.
Featuring 2 floors, the museum showcases all games ever produced by Nintendo, along with products predating their video game endeavors – including playing cards, board games, and even baby strollers. On the interactive ground floor, visitors can experience revamped versions of classic Nintendo games like the giant screen Hanafuda flower card game, ball kicking game, laser-tag game, and an old-school console with a giant controller that requires two players.
Apart from the gaming exhibits, the museum offers standard attractions such as a Nintendo playing card game corner, Hanafuda flower card art design activities, a café serving food and beverages, and a souvenir zone exclusive to the museum.
Operating hours are from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, closed every Tuesday except when it coincides with a public holiday, in which case it shifts to Wednesday, from October to November. Entry tickets are randomly allocated and must be registered by August 31 (requires a Nintendo Account) with prices set at 3,300 yen for adults, 2,200 yen for youths aged 12-17, and 1,100 yen for children aged 6-11.
TLDR: Nintendo Museum officially opens on October 2, 2024, showcasing Nintendo’s gaming history and interactive experiences, along with unique events and activities for visitors of all ages.
