Microsof’s game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is scheduled to be released on PS5 on April 17, 2025. Recently, some lucky souls got their hands on the game early and discovered that the Blu-ray disc for PS5, with a capacity of 100GB, only contains a mere 20GB of game files. The rest must be downloaded during the game installation process.
The PS5 version of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle requires a whopping 125GB of storage space on the SSD, equivalent to more than one disc. While other games with sizes exceeding 100GB may opt for 2 discs to accommodate the game files (such as FFVII Rebirth with a size of 145GB), Microsof has chosen to include only 20GB on the disc and require the rest to be downloaded.
The issue of additional game downloads has long been a contentious topic, particularly concerning the preservation of games in the future. This is because the game servers may have ceased operations, rendering even physical copies useless for gameplay.
