Indonesia Commands Apple/Google to Remove Temu App from Store for Noncompliance with Registration Requirements

The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Menkominfo) has ordered the banning of the Temu app for not being registered as an Electronic System Operator (PSE) in Indonesia. Despite the reason for the block being Temu’s lack of registration, the Ministry also cited a secondary reason that Temu has a significant impact on small and medium-sized businesses (Usaha Mikro Kecil Menengah – UMKM) in the country.

It remains uncertain whether Google and Apple will comply with the Indonesian government’s orders, but as of the latest update, the Temu app is still available on the Google Play store in Indonesia.
