Frank X. Shaw, the head of corporate communications at Microsoft, responded to Marc Benioff, the CEO of Salesforce, who criticized Copilot, stating that nobody uses it. Shaw raised the question as to why Benioff was so fixated on Copilot to this extent and found the answer in Benioff’s book released several years ago. In it, Benioff recounted the time when Salesforce competed against Siebel and revealed the personal secret to positioning oneself as a leader or opponent of leaders in the industry, in order to portray it as a battle between individuals. Salesforce, which was then a runner-up, would garner more attention than market leaders.
