Google has begun releasing the Android Theft Detection Lock feature, showcased at Google I/O, to select users in Brazil before gradually expanding to all devices running Android 10 or higher.
The Theft Detection Lock feature utilizes data from the gyroscope to analyze if a phone has been snatched from its owner’s hand. If confirmed, it automatically locks the phone screen to prevent thieves from accessing the device (or ordering a shutdown) and allows users a window to remotely wipe the phone.
Renowned Android blogger Mishaal Rahman shared this information, revealing that Google has started rolling out this feature but only to a limited group of Beta testers.
