JetBrains Camp has been offering AI-assisted coding services since 2023, utilizing a combination of various models such as Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google. Recently, JetBrains has rolled out a new AI coding assistance package that is compatible with all IDEs within their ecosystem, and additionally, it comes with a free-tier option. The AI package from JetBrains is divided into 4 levels – AI Free, AI Pro, AI Ultimate, and AI Enterprise. The free version can run JetBrains’ own Mellum model locally (via Ollama or LM Studio) and also provides some cloud model running credits.
For the paid packages starting from AI Pro at $10 per month and AI Ultimate at $30 per month, users receive additional credits for running models on the cloud. In addition to features for code completion and chatting with chatbots, JetBrains has also introduced a coding agent named Junie (backed by a mix of Anthropic and OpenAI models), which is compatible with all the above packages. However, only certain IDEs like IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate, PyCharm Pro, WebStorm, and GoLand currently support Junie, with more to be added in the future.
