Innovative Research Center KAISEM Unveiled at Ladkrabang as a Collaborative Laboratory for Interdisciplinary Researchers.

The King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), also known as KMITL, has established the KAISEM center, which stands for KMITL Academy of Innovative Semiconductor Manufacturing. This center serves as a central laboratory, bringing together experts from various fields such as electronics engineering, manufacturing systems engineering, and materials engineering to conduct semiconductor research collaboratively. The goal is to enhance the electronics semiconductor industry’s potential in Thailand.

At the KAISEM center’s opening event, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed with National Instruments (NI) from the United States. This partnership allows for the use of NI’s tools and expertise in teaching and research at the Faculty of Engineering.

Dr. Komsan Maleesee, the Vice President of KMITL, highlighted the institute’s 64-year history of excellence in education and developing specialized professionals in various technologies, especially in areas related to semiconductor manufacturing. The establishment of the KAISEM center aims to prepare students for a future filled with challenges in the semiconductor industry.

Furthermore, the Faculty of Engineering at KMITL, under the leadership of Dr. Somyasit Kiartwanichavalin, has continuously updated its curriculum and teaching methods to meet industry demands. Collaboration with over 11 leading organizations has enabled the faculty to create cutting-edge laboratories for semiconductor and smart electronics studies, ensuring a skilled workforce for the semiconductor industry.

In addition, MOUs were signed at the KAISEM center’s opening between KMITL’s Faculty of Engineering and National Instruments, a global leader in semiconductor testing and measurement systems. This collaboration aims to elevate the faculty’s teaching and research to international standards.

Dr. Vipoo Srisubsab, the Associate Dean of the College of Innovative Materials and Advanced Manufacturing Technology at KMITL, emphasized the institute’s leadership in Material Engineering. The KAISEM center will focus on research and development in modern and efficient materials technology to meet global semiconductor industry demands.

Dr. Chattapol Poksiri, the Acting Dean of the College of Industrial Innovation, also stressed the importance of innovation and recognized service in academia. The KAISEM center will cater to the need for testing new manufacturing technologies through pilot production designs, as well as research and development for semiconductor manufacturing.

In conclusion, the KAISEM center at KMITL is poised to become a hub of cutting-edge semiconductor technology research and development, in collaboration with international universities. By offering comprehensive academic services and fostering high-level research partnerships, KMITL is positioning itself as a global leader in semiconductor technology.

TLDR: KMITL’s KAISEM center is spearheading innovative semiconductor research, focusing on cutting-edge materials and manufacturing technology, in collaboration with global industry and academia partners.
