JioCinema, the streaming platform by Viacom18, a major conglomerate in India owned by Reliance and Star India group, has announced a merger of streaming services with Disney+ Hotstar, a major competitor in India. The new service, JioHotstar, will combine content from both platforms.
The new platform, JioHotstar, features content from major American studios such as Disney, Warner Bros., HBO, NBCUniversal Peacock, and Paramount. It also includes staple content like the popular cricket tournament IPL, now available through a subscription service instead of the previous ad-supported free viewing option.
