Innovative Strix Point Notebook Unleashing Zen 5 CPU, RDNA3+ GPU, and Cutting-Edge XDNA 2 AI Chip

Lisa Su, AMD’s CEO, took the stage at the AI PC Summit in Beijing to reveal details about the upcoming Ryzen Mobile codenamed Strix Point, set to be released in 2024.

Featuring the Zen 5 CPU architecture, RDNA3+ GPU architecture, and the second-generation AI processing accelerator chip XDNA 2, these specifications may not be surprising. The next series of Ryzen Desktop 8000 will also utilize the Zen 5 / RDNA3+ architectures, mirroring the advancements in the laptop series.

One notable upgrade in the laptop series is the NPU chip, transitioning from the current XDNA used in the Ryzen Mobile 8040 (Hawk Point) to the new XDNA 2.

The upcoming Strix Point chip is likely to bear the model number Ryzen Mobile 8050, following AMD’s new nomenclature system for laptop chips. The first digit (8) indicates the year of release (matching Hawk Point in the same year) while the third digit (5) signifies the version of the Zen architecture.
