Introducing the latest iPad Pro with the M4 chip, boasting a sleekness of just 5.1 millimeters (excluding the camera bump) for the 13-inch model and 5.3 millimeters for the 11-inch model. But the question remains, can the device bend easily?
This concern is not unwarranted, as the iPad Pro has previously been designed with a selling point of thinness back in 2018, and tests have shown that the device bends quite easily. Even Apple themselves have officially issued warnings twice that it may bend slightly, but it does not affect performance.
John Ternus, head of hardware engineering at Apple, in an interview with Arun Maini, explained this concern by stating that the new iPad Pro has been designed with a new internal structure, with a metal sheet covering the center of the iPad Pro’s motherboard, making it more rigid. Additionally, heat dispersion and dissipation have also been improved.
The truth of the matter will not be long in coming, as the first batch of iPad Pros will start shipping in the US on May 15th. Many eagerly await the opportunity to test and admire the bendability of the new iPad Pro.
