Insufficient Sales Acknowledged by Ubisoft for Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR Game; No Plans Yet for Expansion into Virtual Reality Gaming Realm

Yves Guillemot, the CEO of Ubisoft, has admitted that the sales of the Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR game on the Meta Quest platform in 2023 did not meet expectations. According to him, the sales of Nexus VR were considered okay and they were selling steadily. However, the company had set higher goals than that, which is why Ubisoft is not currently investing further in VR game development. It would take some time before the VR gaming market reaches its tipping point.

In addition, he provided his thoughts on the Apple Vision Pro glasses, stating that they are impressive hardware. However, he reiterated that Ubisoft will not increase their investment in VR games until the market reaches a sufficient size.

TLDR: The sales of the Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR game on Meta Quest in 2023 did not meet Ubisoft’s expectations. While sales were considered okay, they were not as high as anticipated. As a result, Ubisoft is not planning to increase their investment in VR game development until the VR gaming market grows further. Guillemot also commented positively on the Apple Vision Pro glasses, but the company’s stance remains unchanged.
