Jim Johnson, the high-ranking executive at Intel overseeing the Client Computing Group, took the stage at Intel Vision 2025 to confirm that the next-generation client CPU, Panther Lake, will be Intel’s client CPU for 2026.
This news doesn’t come as a surprise, as Intel had previously announced in 2024 that Panther Lake would be hitting the market by the end of 2025, utilizing the latest Intel 18A manufacturing process that Intel has high hopes for.
What’s intriguing is Johnson’s assertion that Panther Lake combines the power efficiency of Lunar Lake (Core Ultra 200V) with the performance of Arrow Lake (Core Ultra 200S/200H). This means Intel’s next-generation client CPU will only feature Panther Lake (expected to be marketed as Core Ultra 300) without separate Lunar/Arrow Lake variations.
Videocardz noted at the Vision 2025 event that Intel did not discuss the desktop CPU for 2026, leaving uncertainty about whether it will be the desktop version of Panther Lake or a different CPU altogether.
TLDR: Panther Lake is set to be Intel’s next-generation client CPU for 2026, combining power efficiency with high performance and utilizing the Intel 18A manufacturing process.
