The CES 2024 event showcased the introduction of Intel’s new processors. This time, we witnessed the unveiling of three different groups simultaneously, namely the Core 14th Gen Mobile, Core 14th Gen Desktop, and the Core Series 1 for budget laptops. It may seem like a lot, but there’s more to come.
Michelle Johnston Holthaus, Intel’s Client Group Vice President, confirmed that we will see another set of processors released in the latter half of this year. These include Arrow Lake for desktops and Lunar Lake for laptops.
Arrow Lake takes the architectural design of Meteor Lake (marketed as Core Ultra) to the high-end desktop market. It caters to high-performance gaming customers and features an NPU for accelerated AI processing on desktops (the AMD side recently introduced the Ryzen 8000G, some models of which have an NPU).
Lunar Lake, on the other hand, is an upgrade to the architecture of Meteor Lake for laptops. It improves IPC, energy efficiency through low power architecture, and significantly enhances AI processing performance on both the GPU and NPU, giving up to three times more power than Meteor Lake.
According to Intel, they have already sent out sample chips to their partners.
