Intel Foundry Reports Progress on 18A Manufacturing Process; First Product Line Set to Launch in Mid-2025

Intel has reported the progress of their 18A manufacturing process, which began testing at the beginning of last year. It is expected that their two main chip families, Panther Lake for AI PCs and Clearwater Forest for servers, will commence actual production in early 2025 with products for sale in the first half of that year as previously announced.

Intel has also released the 18A Process Design Kit (PDK), a tool for chip design that customers of Intel Foundry can utilize in designing chips using the 18A manufacturing process. This process incorporates the use of new transistor current delivery technologies such as RibbonFET and PowerVia.

Intel states that the advancements made in the 18A process will keep the company on track to have leading-edge manufacturing technology, positioning them to regain leadership in manufacturing in 2025.
