Following the recent announcement by Donald Trump regarding new import tax policies globally (Thailand being hit with a 36% tax), the media has raised questions on whether the newly announced Nintendo Switch 2 will see a price increase alongside these tax declarations.
It is worth noting that Nintendo primarily manufactures its products in Vietnam (having moved out of China post-Trump trade war era) where they also face a hefty 46% tax wall. This has led the media to observe that the launching price of the gaming console at 449.99 dollars (15,000 baht) in the United States already factors in these tax hurdles or not.
Nevertheless, in 2019, the United States did exempt import taxes on consoles from China, but it remains uncertain whether this round will see another exemption or not.

TLDR: With Trump’s import tax policies affecting countries like Thailand and Nintendo’s production base in Vietnam facing high tax rates, the unveiling price of Nintendo Switch 2 in the US might also be impacted by these trade measures.
