Introducing Azure’s HBv5 Bandwidth-Rich Machine with Astonishing 6.9 Tb/s High Memory, Powered by Customized AMD Epyc Processor.

Microsoft Azure has unveiled the new Azure HBv5 VM series, boasting the use of high bandwidth memory (HBM) with a data transfer rate of up to 6.9 TB/s, surpassing many other options in the market.

This VM series utilizes the AMD Epyc 4th Gen Zen 4 core processor, a custom design by AMD specifically for Microsoft. Compared to the previous Azure HBv3 VM series, which used the Epyc 3rd Gen (Milan-X), the bandwidth is nearly 20 times higher.

With its abundant memory bandwidth, the Azure HBv5 VM is ideal for high-performance computing (HPC) tasks that require massive data transfer. Renters can choose to rent up to 352 cores and allocate up to 9GB of RAM per core.

This VM series is currently in a preview status and is expected to be available for use in the first half of 2025.

TLDR: Microsoft Azure introduces Azure HBv5 VM series with high bandwidth memory and AMD Epyc 4th Gen processor, ideal for high-performance computing tasks. Available for use in the first half of 2025.
