Introducing the Dimensity 7300X Chip by MediaTek for Affordable Foldable Mobile Devices, Alongside the Kompanio 838 Chip for Chromebook with Built-In NPU.

At Computex 2024, MediaTek unveiled their latest SoC chips. This time, there was no flagship chip but instead, two mid-range chips: Dimensity 7300 and Dimensity 7300X.

Both chips feature an 8-core CPU, divided into Cortex-A78 x4 and Cortex-A55 x4. Despite using slightly older cores, their standout feature is the utilization of a 4nm manufacturing process, resulting in a 25% energy savings compared to the Dimensity 7050 with the same cores. On the GPU side, an upgrade to the Arm Mali-G615 2022 model is employed.

The significant difference between the two models lies in the Dimensity 7300X, designed for flip style foldable devices, hinting at the possibility of various smartphone brands releasing affordable flip phones soon.

In addition to the two chips above, MediaTek introduced the Kompanio 838 for the premium Chromebook market and the Pentonic 800. The Kompanio 838 stands out with the addition of the MediaTek NPU 650 for AI processing, already utilized by manufacturers like Lenovo.

As for the Pentonic 800, it targets the smart TV market, set-top boxes, and large display screens for advertising. Its noteworthy NPU capabilities aid in image processing tasks such as Super Resolution, Contrast, Picture Quality Scene Recognition, and Picture Quality Object Recognition.

TLDR: MediaTek unveiled mid-range chips Dimensity 7300 and Dimensity 7300X, along with Kompanio 838 for Chromebooks and Pentonic 800 for smart TVs, focusing on AI processing and image quality enhancements.
