Japanese Nintendo distributor halts Wii U repair services due to out-of-stock spare parts

Nintendo of Japan has officially announced the cessation of Wii U console repairs due to a shortage of spare parts. Launched in 2012, the Wii U made its mark in the gaming industry before the eShop closed in 2023 and online services shut down in April 2024, marking a 12-year life cycle with total sales of 13 million units. Despite not reaching the heights of other Nintendo consoles, the Wii U managed to sell over 100 million software units. Nintendo has a policy of continuing support for certain discontinued consoles, like the Nintendo 3DS released in 2011, with ongoing repair services for select models.

TLDR: Nintendo ceases Wii U console repairs due to parts shortage, marking the end of an era for the innovative gaming system.
