JetBrains unveils new user interface as default for all IDEs, featuring a sleek and minimalist design.

JetBrains has announced that all IDEs within the suite will be switching to a new default UI in the upcoming update version 2024.2.

The new UI from JetBrains, which has been in testing since 2021, sports a sleek and minimalistic design with few buttons, prioritizing ample space for displaying code, following the trend of modern IDEs like VS Code. Additionally, color schemes, icons, and contrasts have been adjusted for improved readability and eye comfort.

After extensive testing and bug fixing, JetBrains revealed that a whopping 87% of users have already switched to the new UI, prompting the decision to make it the default interface moving forward.

However, the original UI will still be available for use as a Classic UI plugin that can be downloaded separately. JetBrains plans to support the old UI for at least a year, with possible continued usage afterwards, though compatibility with newer IDE versions may not be guaranteed during that period.

TLDR: JetBrains is updating all IDEs to a new UI design, focusing on simplicity and code readability, while still providing an option to use the old UI as a downloadable plugin.
