Apple has released the iOS 17.2 update for iPhone users and the iPadOS 17.2 update for iPad users, which comes with several new features. Users can update their devices via OTA by going to Settings, selecting General, and choosing Software Update.

The standout feature of iOS 17.2 is the Journal, a diary-like library that records various events throughout each day. It allows users to reminisce about the good times in their lives and preserve cherished memories. This feature utilizes data from images, songs, exercise activities, and more, with all data being encrypted.

Other updates include the addition of the Favorite Songs playlist in Apple Music, which compiles all the songs users have favorited. Apple Music also allows users to disable music playback history when in Focus mode. Additionally, users now have the ability to customize the default notification sound.

AirDrop now supports the sharing of boarding passes and movie tickets between devices. There are new widgets for the Clock and Weather apps. Spatial Video capture is now available for use with the Vision Pro in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The Action Button on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max has added Translate functionality. The Telephoto camera in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max has improved autofocus speed when capturing small objects from a distance.

Wireless charging with Qi2 is now supported on all models of the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14. Certain issues with wireless charging in some car models have been addressed. The purchase of TV shows and movies in the iTunes Store has been consolidated into the TV app.

Additionally, some features that were initially expected to be included in iOS 17.2 have been pushed back to 2024 and are now anticipated to be part of iOS 17.3. These include shared playlists in Apple Music and the ability to connect to hotel TVs via AirPlay.
