Kabosu, the Canine Inspiration Behind Dogecoin, Passes Away

Kabosu, the Shiba Inu dog breed that many recognize as the face of the cryptocurrency Dogecoin, has passed away today. Atsuko Sato, Kabosu’s owner, shared the news on her blog. Kabosu, who is now 17 years old, started as an online meme and inspired the creation of Dogecoin in 2013. This led to the rise of other dog-themed cryptocurrencies like Shiba Inu (SHIB) and Floki (FLOKI). Today, DOGE holds the 8th position in terms of market value, while SHIB is ranked at number 12.

The farewell ceremony for Kabosu, also known as Kabo-chan by Sato, is scheduled for May 26 at Flower Kaori in Narita city in the afternoon.
