Kickstarter, the platform for crowdfunding various projects, has announced a new feature called Late Pledges. This function allows projects to receive additional funding even after reaching their initial goal. This is beneficial as some may show interest in contributing but do so after the project’s funding goal has already been met.
In the past, Kickstarter’s guidelines required project owners to provide contact details for completed projects for those interested in placing orders or contributing later. This process, however, may not be convenient for potential investors.
Late Pledges will undergo a trial run with a limited group of project creators who have successfully reached their funding goal before being expanded to all projects for future use.
On the other hand, Indiegogo, another crowdfunding platform, introduced a feature called Marketplace in 2017 for successful projects to sell their products.
TLDR: Kickstarter introduces Late Pledges, allowing additional funding for projects even after reaching their goal, while Indiegogo offers Marketplace for successful projects to sell products.
