Leadership of Nintendo Responds: Mario Kart World at $80, Welcome Tour Sold Separately, and Joy-Con 2 Available for Purchase

In an exclusive interview with IGN, Bill Trinen, the Deputy Head of Product Development and Player Experience at Nintendo of America, addressed several questions regarding the highly discussed Nintendo Switch 2.

When asked about the upcoming Mario Kart World, Trinen hinted at a new price point of $80 ($50 when bundled with the console), emphasizing the value the game delivers. With many aspects yet to be revealed, players are encouraged to stay tuned for the Mario Kart Direct presentation to uncover more than meets the eye.

Trinen confirmed that Mario Kart World boasts a significant size with numerous discoveries waiting within the game. With several secrets set to be unveiled upon announcement, this installment promises to offer the ultimate Mario Kart experience.

Moving on to the enticing Welcome Tour, Trinen highlighted its resemblance to a tech exhibition showcasing Switch 2 features, making it more of a freebie than a standalone game. Priced at $10 in the US and 1,000 yen in Japan, this digital-only game has already presented additional details during Treehouse Live, showcasing an abundance of intricate features for tech-savvy and hardware enthusiasts.

Delving into the Joy-Con 2, Trinen mentioned new features, particularly the mouse capability enhancing the gaming experience. In games like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, players can switch control methods from Joy-Con 2’s separated mode to mouse mode for ground drag battles, exclusive to the platform. The adjustable angle mouse technology on Joy-Con 2 not only aids game developers, especially for PC games, in handling motion controls more efficiently compared to PC mice.

Finally, Trinen reaffirmed that the Switch 2 game cartridges will continue to have a bitter taste coating to prevent accidental ingestion, similar to the original Switch.

TLDR: Bill Trinen discusses exciting details about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, from the anticipated Mario Kart World to the innovative Joy-Con 2 features and safety measures for game cartridges.
