LG Announces Server Update Closure for Mobile Devices on June 30, 2025 After 4-Year Sales Hiatus

LG officially exited the mobile phone business in April 2021, but they are still honoring their commitment to providing security patches for at least 3 years after the products were sold. However, all journeys must come to an end. Four years have passed, and LG Taiwan’s website has announced the shutdown of servers for updating Android phones on June 30, 2025. This means that from now on, any LG smartphones still in use in the market will no longer receive any updates (other countries may not have announced yet, but likely to follow suit). The number of people using LG phones has significantly dwindled.

TLDR: LG has officially withdrawn from the mobile phone business, leaving existing customers without future updates for their devices.
